Out & About in the Allen Valleys
Allendale Town is the largest settlement in the Allen Valley. Fascinating traces of the lead mining past remain, whilst high-pennine hay-meadows and the moorland above local farms are a rare national wildlife treasure. Shops, galleries, pubs and tourist attractions can be found in this 'capital' of the Allen Valley and village of the year 2008.
The award-winning market town Hexham is only 20 minutes drive away and has a 14th century Abbey, galleries, theatre, cinema, shops and a tourist information centre. Its market day is Tuesday. Hexham Farmers Market, voted the best in the country by the National Farmers Union, is on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.

Allendale Bakery
Our very own village bakery is situated in Unit 2 of the developing Allen Mill Regeneration site, in Allendale. There is also a cafe serving delicious lunches & home made cakes. The bakery & cafe is open every day of the week from 10am until 4:30pm except Tuesday. Allendale Bakery is creating wonderful breads and the lovely setting is well worth a visit!

Allendale Co-op is a truly Independedent Co-operative Society founded in 1874.
Friendly staff, wide choice of goods including local suppliers, great service. Well worth a visit.

Pebbles Gallery
Pebbles Gallery Fine Art And Creative Centre runs a year round programme of exhibitions, has permanent on-site makers, and features affordable regional art and creative crafts. Summer Art And Music. The centre holds many workshops throughout the summer run by local artists and free art and music events in the main gallery. The café offers a warm welcome, local food and refreshments served all day, fully licensed with a select wine list and the popular Allendale brewery ales. OPEN 7 days a week 10am to 5pm.
