Positive Beats
Why drumming?
Drumming together is fun, creative, inspiring, empowering, and motivating. It is light-hearted exercise, promotes health and well-being and a sense of community. It is described as the new approach for team building and has been proven to have benefits at both psychological and physical levels.
FEELING THE RHYTHM
Rhythm has always been an important part of our lives. From hearing the mother’s heart beat when in the womb, to listening to a new song, the steady beat brings positive emotions. But whilst children get to play clapping games and have fun making music, only a certain few carry on as adults. They become the music makers and the rest of us are passive observers, limited to tapping along, missing out on something that is such a part of us, but has been lost in modern society.
GROUP DRUMMING
When drumming with others, we quickly feel the pulse and can’t help but join in. Maybe a bit tentative at first, but soon it feels so natural, that it is something we can’t believe we haven’t been doing all our lives. The rhythms connect with others and the positive emotions become more powerful. We become immersed in the drumming, so much so that time stands still and the past and the future are irrelevant, just enjoying the moment. And in that moment you are sharing the experience with others, you are contributing to it, you are connecting. No wonder it is being rediscovered as a way to create positive lives, in corporate, community, health, and educational settings
