The council run Outdoor Education Centre for young people closed in August 2000. Following a three year period of uncertainty Deneholme was bought by Fawside (the Allen Valleys' Community Charity) in 2003 with funding from the a range of different organisations, incl. Northumberland Strategic Partnership and refurbished to a high standard using grants from the Clear Skies Initiative, Community Foundation Pipeline Fund and Energy for Enterprise.

Support for the fitting out of Deneholme has been given by the Tynedale Council, DEFRA and Allendale Lions.

Over fifteen months (2007-2008) Deneholme has been restored to its former glory, as we've uncovered and restored original features and incorporated new building in the Edwardian style.

Deneholme is now managed by Sharon, Tony and Linda Beck, trading also as BECKs Development Training and Development Through Adventure.
