 Appropriate risk assessments have been carried out for each individual activity that is facilitated by “BECKs Development Training” and “Development through Adventure”
 Activities are offered based on the capability and age of the group.
 During these activities the group is always supervised by our staff.
 There will be a clear handover between BECKs staff & youth group staff after activities are finished.
 All our staff members are qualified in First Aid, and hold a current Rescue and Emergency Care certificate and activity related qualification.

 Loco Parentis remains with youth group leaders, although during activities BECKs staff will ensure the Health, Safety & Wellbeing of the group
 Continuous monitoring of developments within the activities and also any technological developments.
 All accidents and near misses are reported and appropriately dealt with by BECKs Management.

 Potentially very serious All BECKs Development Training staff are CRB checked and follow a strict procedure of not being alone with any child/student at any time.
 School/Youth Group staff are on duty 24 hours a day, ensuring compliance with duty of care and to provide security.
 All doors will be locked during the night.
 Vigilance by group leaders and any other staff there
 Ensure full compliance with Risk Assessments and review as appropriate.
 All accidents and near misses to be reported within HCC guidelines.
Road safety – Access & roads nearby

 All

 Potentially very serious Groups arrive on main car park away from the road with direct access to centre and grounds.
 Outside the grounds there is a country road and it is recommended that groups adhere to and comply with HCC Open Country current good practice.
 Off-site activities, e.g. orienteering will be briefed according to area covered and small children (under the age of 12) will not be permitted to leave the grounds unsupervised)
 Continuous monitoring of local policies and amendments made where appropriate.
 All accidents and near misses to be reported with HCC guidelines.
Environment and Weather

All

Low risk with control measures in place. There is a risk of insect bites.
 LPG Storage tanks are located on site.
 The site operates a non-smoking policy. If visitors want to smoke they must use the designated area outside the front or rear door and place butts in the bin provided.
 Weather reports will be monitored by BECKs Development Training staff.
 Groups to ensure adequate wet weather provision and ensure that children have appropriate wet weather clothing.
 BECKs will provide waterproof jackets and trousers if required.
 Activities won’t take place in hazardous weather conditions and indoor alternatives will be arranged.
 BECKs staff are trained in First Aid.
 Youth Group Leader must have own qualified first aider in his staff team.
 The weather will be monitored by staff during a groups visit and, if necessary extra measures will be taken.
 All accidents and near misses to be reported with HCC guidelines.

 Cleaning will normally take place before and after a group stays at Deneholme. If cleaning required during stay, wet floor safety signs will be in place.

 Staff and guests are asked not to attempt to lift heavy tables with less than 4 people.

 Guests do not have access to catering kitchen and service floor

 Smoke alarms and emergency lighting in all rooms regularly tested, fire exits clearly marked and all guests briefed on fire procedures / alarm tests.

  Guests are warned about the nature of the grounds, and asked not to walk there in very wet conditions or alone at any time.

 Group leaders and young people warned of proximity of stream and dangers

 Deneholme management clear dead trees as soon as they are aware of them, guests asked to be careful on grounds.

BECKs Development Training is AALA licensed, which means the organisation as well as its employees has undergone a thorough assessment focussing on Operations Procedures, Risk Assessments, Safe Practice, Outdoor Equipment and Storage. "Development through Adventure" works under BECKs and therefore has the same AALA cover, as the same equipment is used, the same staff facilitate and the same Operational Procedures are adhered to.
